New "Faith Journal" Post : A Comfortable Faith

   I've just finished another post at my "Faith Journal" page, which is part of the "FAITH-HOPE-LOVE" site. This journal entry is called "A Comfort- able Faith," and involves looking at our faith in God as a GIFT from him, rather than something that we concoct or muster up in our souls or minds. It looks as faith in God as a complete TRUST in him, rather than a once-in-a-while, desperate plea for help. The blog also encourages us to KNOW God as our Father, in a relationship as his sons and daughters, and to be thankful for this gift of faith that he has given us.

Blogging 101

    Happy New Year! --to all of my "Faithful Few" blog readers out there.  I actually believe that most of my blog posts will be read "after-the-fact" from my archives, just hope that most of you will not read them posthumously.  {If you don't know what that means, I'm not telling.  You'll have to look it up yourself.}   Every once in a while, I meet someone who says, "I read your blog" or even "I will read your blog"... blah blah blah.. If you read my blog, then "comment."  That's how I know that you were actually here.  If nothing else, my blog becomes a self-portrait in prose, an exercise, not in futility, but of the mind and heart.  There's always a purpose behind the project.   Sometimes it's unknown at first.  But something will come out of it.  Maybe I'll even land a "blogging job" one of these days.  One of my blogging friends told me that she made up to $400 for a single blog.   If that's true, then I would've made at least $100 for this paragraph. (!)

   I just want to give credit where credit's due.  This got started back this past summer when I took a free class at my local library called "Blogging for Beginners."  I can't believe it was that long ago!   I'm very grateful to the library and to my instructor, April, who did a great job of showing us what it was all about.  I already had a gift and passion for writing, but needed a little push in the right direction to get it all started.  It's now mushroomed into this :  a tiny little personal blog with over fifty (50) different pages.  My blog includes personal pages, music & entertainment, travel, history, business, sports, humor, opinion, quotations and expressions, plus much more!

   I'm looking forward with excitement, anticipation, and expectation to see how this thing (my blog) grows and expands, and just where it will all lead.  I know it's not just a whim or a hobby.  I really expect something bigger to happen.  I already have a Tee Shirt store {see NovelTees link} and a guitar teaching site {see GuiTarHeel link};  I'm thinking about some other new ideas.  I can't wait to see what happens!

   I am now enrolled in a new class, again sponsored by the library, called "Blogging and PodCasting for Beginners."   It is offered through a group called Learn4Life, and made available for FREE through the library.  I am excited to be able to learn even more about this wonderful subject, and be able to improve and expand my site.

   Keep tuned for more developments and news soon!   THANKS for being a follower!

Songs Downloaded to YouTube

I'm happy to say that live versions of several of my original songs have been downloaded to my YouTube channel.

     They are--

1 "Squirrel's World" (a catchy bluegrass tune about the little animals in my yard);

2 "Cat's Wail" (a bluesy guitar instrumental) ;

3 "Set Me Free" (a bluesy prayer to God) ;  &

4 "Snooze" (a sarcastic, soulful look at sleep).

These were all recorded in August "live" at The Inn, a Christian night spot in Salisbury, NC.

I'd like to personally thank Melinda Watkins for recording these songs and making them available for downloading to YouTube.

Hope you enjoy them  =)

Movie Recommendations for Teachers & Families

   I highly recommend these three movies for anyone:  "Beyond the Blackboard", "The Ron Clark Story," and "Front of the Class." These are stories of the challenges of teachers, and especially the challenges of teachers who face either personal handicaps or special needs children.   SEE MORE about this on my Books, TV & Movies page.
